Rider Description

Arrival day:
Settle in your room and get ready for day 1. If you arrive early and a bike is available, maybe take a local ride.

Day 1:
7:00 AM Wake up and have a great breakfast. Notice it's not cold. Listen to the birds. You're in Costa Rica my friend. Everything's a bit different. General first day running around, strap pack to the bike and be ready to ride by 8:00 AM.... Really, 8:00 AM. This is a longish day best done by intermediate to good riders. There will be plenty of dirt and almost completely new terrain for you Costa Rican regulars. We'll see the ocean off and on all day as we follow ridge lines and eventually drop down right next to the Golf of Nicoya. We hug the coast to Puente Amistad (big friendly bridge) and cross to the Nicoya Peninsula. As soon as we get to the other side, back to dirt all the way to Samara. You'll be ready for beer and air conditioning. We have a great place to stay with a jacuzzi and pool. The beach is across the street.

Samara is a laid back surfer town (you'll be hearing this a lot) that has a few great restaurants and a sort of Bohemian atmosphere. The beach is quite and restful. It's possible to find a bar to play pool and be part of the scene if you like. There are lots of choices in a little town.

Day 2:
Wake at 8:00 or 8:30 so you can get breakfast before it closes at 9 am. This is an easy day as we follow the coast to Santa Teresa, another laid back surfer pueblo. We'll stay on the beach and swim in the bar/pool and generally talk racer trash till it's time for bed. This is one of the most relaxing stays of the tour.

Day 3:
7:30 AM Have a great breakfast and get mounted. We'll ride over to Cabo Blanco National Park (all fun dirt) and putt along the edge of the ocean to the town of Montezuma. Maybe do a loop through town and head up to Cobano and ride fun pavement and dirt to the Naranjo ferry. We'll cross to Puntarenas and then ride some unavoidable highway to pay our respects to the crocks lurking under the Tarcoles bridge. We'll have lunch on the way. After gas and crocks, we turn off the pavement and up into the hills again. This is a really great slalom kind of ride with peeks of the ocean along the way. Eventually we'll come out just below Jaco, our destination, and slide into the Cocal and Casino for two days of R&R. There are optional loops we can do on our free day if you didn't hurt yourself too bad the night before. Lots of shopping, surfing and night life.

Day 4:
Second day at Jaco. Rest, swim, surf, fish or go for a ride in the local hills.

Day 5:
We'll ride to Manual Antonio using new loops and trails whenever possible. As I write this, we are exploring new dirt just outside Quepos, too. We have a new place to stay in Manual Antonio now. It's on the beach and an easy walk to the National Park and shopping. There's a great bar right on the beach where the hotel is.

Day 6:
Breakfast on the beach, on the bikes by 8:30 AM. This is probably one of the best days. Riding highinto the mountains where the best coffee is grow. We will pass over many high mountain peaks with sweeping views. This is an area rarely seen by tourists and offers stunning terrain. Arrve in Atenas happy and tired and ready for a beverage by the pool. What better way to end a Moto Tours Costa Rica tour?

Non-Rider Description

Day 1:
Go directly to Santa Teresa and spend the night. It will be a long drive but my inclinations are they will just love it.

Day 2:
Stay right where you are There are few shopping opportunities but great food and a lovely beach. No need to step off the property. Nice people and a pool and the beach all right there. This for people who want the extra time to cool their jets from all that prep before the trip, and the ride to get there. Two totally relaxing days right up front.

Also, on day 2, riders will be in Santa Teresa. The non-riders would have the cabinas in order and smelling pretty by the time we came in with smelly boots and soggy clothes. Such a deal...

Day 3:
Catch the ferry, see the crocks, get settled in at the Cocal & Casino in Jaco. We will be taking a different ferry (Naranjo) but end up in Jaco with the riders. Jaco has lots of shopping and activities.

Day 4:
Go to Manual Antonio and buy more stuff and get sunburned or take a great nature walk through the National Park.

Day 5:
More stuff and beginning to peel, non-riders and riders will have this day to enjoy all the activities Manual Antonio has to offer.

Day 6:
Head for Atenas.

Other Information

Rules: No rules except what the law says and good manners.

The plan: Ride the fun sections of your life and see the most beautiful country in the world.

The mood: Open, exploratory and laid back. Ride inside your comfort level. Here, in Costa Rica, you're always on your minute.

Thanks to Wayne Faddis, we are exploring new routes and finding new loops. There is a more aggressive bent to the company now. Not so much about faster, just more interesting.

A word of caution: Please try to be with friends who are on the same page rider wise. It 's better for everyone. Mostly, this is about your trip and the style of riding you like to do. It's about being with friends and taking back memories.
